Job summary

We are looking to recruit dynamic individuals, whose clinical leadership abilities will help shape the future direction of the clinical service provision within the trust and within this nationally award-winning critical care unit, that has been rated asGoodby the CQC.

The successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team including consultants from anaesthetic and medical backgrounds and will be encouraged to develop areas of interest, such as bedside echo and ultrasonography on the critical care unit and to advance anaesthetic services as their job plan allows.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to participate in the delivery and development in the provision of anaesthetic services to the Trust, with a specialist interest in Pain Medicine.

They will be required to provide the provision of anaesthetic services for the variety of district general surgical services for adults and children.

The post holder will participate in a consultant on-call rota (1 in 8) as part of a team of 2-consultants to provide out-of-hours cover for the emergency surgical list, a consultant-led obstetric unit, the critical care unit and for paediatric stabilisation.

It has enviably close links with the Community Pain Clinic in Ainsdale, serving the population of Southport and Formby. The Team has also been invited, in conjunction with the Southport and Formby Community Pain Service, to tender for the provision of a similar community Pain Service in West Lancashire. The Secondary Pain Team is at the forefront of service development, striving for enhanced delivery of Pain Management in the Primary Care setting.

  • Full registration with General Medical Council and Licence to Practice
  • MB ChB or equivalent.
  • FRCA or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience of working in pain medicine/ anaesthesia within the NHS
