We have a replacement post, created as a result of the Trusts renewed commitment to womens health. It is part of a plan to change how we deliver womens services at the Trust. It builds on the development of womens healthcare that the trust has undertaken over the last 3-4 years.

Main duties of the job
The Consultant workforce at the trust will increase in the next year in line with Ockenden recommendations, together with an increase in our specialist nursing complement. We have replacement post to help the department meet its cancer targets, and are happy to consider applicants with a range of sub-specialties to compliment those existing within the department
The role will also support the expansion of our services into Womens Health.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults and childrens accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Womens and childrens services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

Job responsibilities
To participate in the provision of an Obstetric and Gynaecological service to Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust in co-operation with the other Consultants in post.
Help ensure the department meets its cancer targets.
To act as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and to maintain a safe, friendly and efficient service.
To work with the Trusts current team to develop our services.
To work with the wider team in ensuring the governance of our services follow Trust and national guidance.
To assist in providing 60 hours dedicated Consultant time on the delivery suite and to participate in alternative models of achieving this.
To assist in delivering elective Caesarean section lists and termination services (providing you have no moral objection to terminations)
To share in the administration and management of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology services.
To remain competent with emergency Gynaecology skills commensurate with the level you achieved for your CCT.
To share in the direct supervision of junior medical staff, physician associate students, midwifery and nursing staff and medical students taking responsibility for their ongoing education and training.
To participate in clinical audit, adverse event review, guideline development review, external review and service development.
The post holder may in common with other Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologists, have to consider alterations in sessional commitments by mutual agreement in response to changing needs within the Service Group.

- MRCOG or appropriate specialist registration
- Relevant CCT or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
