Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a consultant forensic psychiatrist to work with us.Forensic Mental Health Services relocated to Ridgeway, with its purpose built medium and low secure facilities in May 2010. This facility offers increased capacity, with over 120 medium and low secure male and female in-patient beds. In addition Ridgeway contains the majority of the Forensic Learning Disability low secure beds (67) and the Medium Secure autism beds (12).

Ridgeway offers spacious accommodation along with a comprehensive range of facilities including its own gymnasium, football pitch, café, GP surgery, dental surgery and resource centre.

The principal objectives of the service are to cater for mentally disordered patients who require a greater degree of security than can be provided in conventional psychiatric settings in the region, but who do not need the degree of security provided by the High Secure Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant will be the Responsible Clinician for patients.

The Consultant, will be expected to provide committed, proactive and responsive clinical leadership working with the in-patient MDT team.

The Consultant will attend and contribute fully to formulation and risk meetings. The Consultant will attend the discharge planning meetings.

The Consultant will be responsible, in conjunction with the MDT, for developing close links with community teams and adult mental health inpatient services.
