This post: Inpatient post
based at Lanchester Road Hospital. Lanchester Road Hospital is a modern psychiatric
hospital just outside Durham. It was built in 2009. There are 2 admission wards
for adults with a learning disability with six beds in total. With transforming care
agenda, the current inpatient unit comprises six beds over two units. The mean
Admissions per month = 2 (range 0-5) and mean Discharges per month = 2 (range
0-5). The median length of stay was between 28 and 100 days in 2020 and 2021.
North Tees Community Team, Hartlepool: The team provides a specialist service to adults with
a learning disability who live in the Stockton and Hartlepool locality. The
team has an active caseload of around 500, with between 20 and 50 allocations
per month. It
is anticipated that the post holder will hold a psychiatry caseload of around
40 patients from the Hartlepool locality. The majority will be jointly managed
with the wider MDT. Consultants do not act as care coordinator for patients who
are under CPA.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is also expected to:
1. Support joint working with the trust’s other major adult learning disability inpatient site at Bankfields Court, Middlesbrough. The post holder is not expected to be involved in day-to-day case management in the other unit.
2. The post holder is expected to be involved in discussions around admissions, transfers and discharges as part of the preventing inappropriate admissions pathway process.
3. The post holder is expected to participate in and/or lead the trustwide learning disability inpatient forum to discuss service development and assurance reviews.
4. As senior leader within the inpatient unit, the post holder will be involved in development of the inpatient unit to strive to provide robust high quality clinical care and sustain a positive service culture.
5. The post holder is expected to contribute to overall service development and participate in annual directorate business plan development and take active role in project development.
