Job summary
The post is based in dual
setting community eating disorder clinic at Imperial Avenue, Stockton on Tees
and inpatient setting on Birch ward, which is a Specialist Eating Disorder
Unit. It is a 15 bedded unit which accepts admissions from across the North
East and Cumbria. The unit provides a specialist multidisciplinary treatment
programme for adults with severe eating disorders, including complex patients
with psychiatric and physical comorbidity. The specialist multi-disciplinary
team is led by a Consultant Psychiatrist and includes a Consultant Clinical
Psychologist, Nurse Consultant, Consultant Physician, Clinical psychologists,
Specialist Dietitian, Occupational Therapist, Registered Mental Health Nurses
and Registered General Nurses and a trust doctor. The ward works closely with
the day hospital and community team based in Stockton. The ward also works with
other specialist ED services across the region to deliver a joined up pathway
of care for patients with severe eating disorders.
Main duties of the job
To
work as part of the ward multidisciplinary team attending the daily ward
report out.
To
ensure robust assessments of new patients including the completion of full
psychiatric histories, review of previous notes, mental state examinations and
physical examinations where appropriate.
To
review patients and treatment plans as appropriate.
To
participate in formulation meetings.
To
initiate initial management plans.
To
maintain accurate and clear records using the CITO system.
To
communicate with staff, patients and their carers in a timely and effective
manner.
To
liaise with other professional staff and agencies including the completion of
discharge summaries.
To
ensure the practice of safe medicines management.
To
work within framework of CPA.
