Job summary
There is a vacancy for a full time specialist Psychiatrist working into
Hartlepool CMHT and Community Hub Team. This post is based at Stewart
House, Hartlepool; clinics are also at Stewart House. The Specialist will be
expected to provide committed, proactive and responsive clinical leadership
working with other staff to provide an assessment and treatment service The Consultant is supported by a Foundation
Doctor post and a Specialty Doctor (0.8 WTE) shared with the other Consultant.
Hartlepool has a
population of 92,000, currently the team has one Consultant covering the teams
alongside this vacancy. The consultants will support both teams in Hartlepool
between them. The post advertised does not carry any inpatient or crisis
commitment.
Main duties of the job
-The post holder will provide
committed, proactive, and responsible leadership to the team, mainly around the
decision making in relation to patient care in both the teams.
-The post holder will clinically
assess, evaluate and manage patients; formulate a prioritised differential diagnosis, initiate
an appropriate management plan and review and adjust depending on the outcomes
to treatment.
-Respect patients dignity,
ensuring confidentiality and appropriate communication where potentially
difficult or where barriers exist.
-Apply basic principles of
public health including population health, promoting health and wellbeing,
work, nutrition, exercise, vaccination and illness prevention.
-Collaborate with
multidisciplinary and interprofessional teams to manage risk and issues across
organisations and settings, with respect for and recognition of the roles of
other health professionals.
-Recognise and take
responsibility for safeguarding children, young people and adults, using
appropriate systems for identifying, sharing information, recording concerns,
obtaining advice and taking action.

We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby.
