Job summary
This exciting 10 PA post covers the provision of medical leadership to 13 bedded female acute inpatient ward for working age adults across Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale areas. The hospital site sits within beautiful grounds decorated with flowers, trees and peaceful areas. Carparking at the hospital is free. The job is split into 3 sessions of supporting professional activities (SPA) and 7 sessions of direct clinical care (DCC) and it is hoped that the post-holder will be encouraged to use the enhanced SPA provision within this post to engage in research, education or service development in conjunction with local colleagues in order to ensure that this can occur in formal protected time. The appointed consultant will be expected to provide key medical leadership to the female inpatient ward.
The inpatient post is based at Cross Lane Hospital which is a modern, custom-built, AIMS-accredited psychiatric unit, which also houses an 13-bedded male inpatient unit (Danby), the regional crisis team, Section 136 and seclusion facilities and management, educational and meeting spaces.
Main duties of the job
The post holder with provide consultant leadership in line with the principles of New Ways of Working to the team with which they are associated.
The inpatient portion of the post is based on the female inpatient (Esk) ward at Cross Lane Hospital. The inpatient team aspires to adopt the principles of productive inpatient admission (PIPA) to deliver clinical services which aspire to improve the quality and efficiency of our patients care journey. The core clinical components of this model include:
A reason for admission
A development of a clear formulation
A clear plan as to goals to be achieved to facilitate discharge when clinically appropriate
The post-holders core clinical duties will involve formulation-, review- and leadership- meetings, Mental Health Act-related work, and involvement in complex care planning meetings.
