The service is fast paced so the applicant will be organised and self-motivated. We provide evidence based assessments and interventions for young people. We provide a creative and pro-active approach in engaging young people and their families. The applicant will be calm, consistent approach in challenging clinical situations, be compassionate, creative and flexible in delivering care to young people and their families/carers. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to influence and contribute to service development, providing a high degree of job satisfaction and personal progression. The candidate will need to be able to travel independently around the locality to met the demands of the service.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will have good communication skills with young people and families. Be ability to dealing with high levels of distress in a calm and professional manner.

Working as a community support worker/Trainee you will support the qualified staff with community/hospital visits, answer the phones to professionals and families offering support and advice with support from the qualified staff. You will deliver enhanced crisis support sessions and supporting the young person through a mental health crisis which is care planned by the qualified staff. You will document on patient electronic records opening referral's, documenting contacts to a good standard. You will liaise with partner agencies and signpost/refer young people to appropriate services where needs are identified, under the direction of senior staff.

The successful candidate must have completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent. Candidates must also have Literacy and Numeracy level 2 or equivalent and must complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within their probationary period (first 6 months in role).

The successful candidates who do not have the required qualifications will be expected to enrol on the Healthcare Assistant Framework which will include the acquisition of the level 2 Diploma Health and Social Care, level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent and achievement of competencies within 2 years of commencement in post.

About us

The North Yorkshire and York (CAMHS) Crisis Team now provide a 24/7 service to young people and their families and we want to expand our team. If you have a passion and a strong interest in working with children and Young people as a clinical speciality and if you are committed to multidisciplinary worker then we are interested in hearing from you. The successful applicant will be expected to work shifts patterns which cover 24/7 service provision.

Our team covers the largest geographical area in the trust and as such we have 3 bases (Ripon, York and Scarborough). The candidates main base for this post will be in York. However the person will be expected to travel around the locality/bases during their shift to meet the clinical demand because we function as a locality team. This post requires the candidate to have good communication skills, interpersonal skills, good time management and organisation skills.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.
