Community Support Worker/Trainee - Early Intervention in Psychosis

Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated community support worker to join the York and Selby Early Intervention in Psychosis team. You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team who work with people aged 18-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

Main duties of the job

You will provide individual and group support under supervision of a qualified member of the team to people who will have complex mental health problems. The focus of your work will to help people achieve their goals and connect them to their local community. Working with people's families and significant others is an important part of this role.

The successful candidate must have completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent. Candidates must also have Literacy and Numeracy level 2 or equivalent and must complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within their probationary period (first 6 months in role).

The successful candidates who do not have the required qualifications will be expected to enrol on the Healthcare Assistant Framework which will include the acquisition of the level 3 Diploma Health and Social Care, level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent and achievement of competencies. You will have a maximum of 2 years to complete this.

  • Previous experience as a Band 2/3 HCA or equivalent in a care environment

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with people with mental/social health needs or learning disabilities.

  • Awareness of legal frameworks including Mental Health legislation (within agreed timescale)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (within agreed timescales)
  • Breakaway techniques (within agreed timescale)
