An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Fitness Instructor within our secure inpatient services at Roseberry Park Hospital working alongside our Fitness team. You will have the opportunity to work with clients with learning disabilities, mental health, autism and older people in a secured inpatient environment, also working alongside colleagues in physical health and AHP's.
The service operates a recovery and rehabilitation centred model, offering fitness routines, weight management, building up on patient plans from the physiotherapists and providing evidence based lifestyle modifications.
You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.
Main duties of the job
The aims of the service is to work collaboratively with service users and carers in the completion of treatments, exercise planning and rehabilitation to enable a person-centred, recovery-focused approach to care, meeting their needs in a holistic manner.
To work with delegated service users in the secure inpatient setting across low and medium secure wards who visit the gym for regular interventions.
To participate in outdoor exercise activities with delegated service user within the secure inpatient setting.
To engage delegated service user in sporting activity of choice within the sports hall and on the wards as required.
You must demonstrate good verbal and written skills, be honest and trustworthy and be able to work independently on delegated tasks under the direction of qualified staff as well as under direct supervision.
You must be a team player as role involves working with teammates, which requires that you maintain a healthy and professional relationship with colleagues and other members of staff.
You will be involved in providing physical exercises/interventions on a 1-1 basis and sometimes in group sessions.

Maintains adequate daily record of attendees and provides necessary information to team lead.
Encourages service users/carers in a compassionate manner, to actively participate in their own therapy to support them in achieving their identified goals.
Provides information and practical advice, within scope of own competency, to service users and carers e.g. demonstrating exercise programmes for them to follow.
Works with staff within the secured inpatient environment who are willing to participate in staff fitness programs.
Participates in health promotion activities.
