Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified mental health nurse, occupational therapist or social worker to join the Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire (North Yorkshire) Perinatal Team, as a band 5 community mental health practitioner. This post will be covering the Hambleton and Richmondshire area, based at North Moor House, Northallerton.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the community perinatal multi-disciplinary team providing a service to women and families experiencing mental health difficulties in pregnancy and up to 1 year postnatal.

You will be a valuable part of the service and support needs for birthing people and their families, working with a supportive team of nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, peer support workers, support workers, nursery nurses and psychologists.

The post will include supporting birthing people with all aspects of their mental health care, assessing risk, liaising closely with other professionals and services such as maternity.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of an experienced and committed multi-disciplinary team, you will act as CPA coordinator or lead professional within our specialist service that strives to deliver excellent standards of care to expectant and new birthing people with severe and complex mental health problems. The successful applicant will have sound risk assessment skills and an awareness of the CPA process. Experience of working in the community is desirable but not essential.

You will receive individual and group clinical supervision, as well as regular line management supervision and personal and professional development through the appraisal process.

The opportunity is open to Nurses and other registered professionals. The post holder will be required to keep a portfolio of evidence and clinical achievement to support the uplift to band 6. This is a structured process which will be supported through clinical and management supervision.

This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme. Please note: Newly qualified applicants or those due to qualify will be recruited via a separate process.

  • Current professional registration with an approved professional body
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within agreed timescale)
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Post Graduate qualification in a relevant area

Experience

  • Working with people with mental ill health
