Job summary
This is a rare opportunity to apply for a post as Joint Lead of this Psychoanalytic Psychotherapies Service (PPS) due to the present post holder changing to a part-time post. TEWV NHS Foundation Trust is committed to being a specialist tertiary service provider and the service is playing a leading role in offering short-term and time limited approaches to psychoanalytic psychotherapy service delivery in the North of England. We are looking for an experienced clinician with evidence of clear psychoanalytic, adult mental health clinical expertise, along with the motivation and skills to develop as a service lead.
Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
Main duties of the job
The Lead of Service together with the current post holder will play a key role in maintaining the high clinical, supervision and training standards for the service alongside improving service performance, patient experience and outcomes and developing the evidence base for new approaches to the delivery of psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapies.
The multi-disciplinary service comprises 9 clinical staff, a consultant medical psychotherapy tutor for the psychiatry training scheme, a Team Manager and a supporting administration team. Staff members provide long term (up to 2 years), short term and time limited psychoanalytic, psychodynamic and group analytic psychotherapies for patients, as well as consultation, supervision and training for Community Mental Health Teams and trainees placed with the service. There are strong links to universities and other stakeholders involved in doctoral clinical psychology, counselling psychology, psychiatry and psychoanalytic psychotherapy training schemes.

- To have undertaken a recognised qualification in one of the core regulated mental health professions, e.g. psychiatric nursing, applied psychology, medicine, social work and occupational therapy and continued registration with the regulatory body (i.e. NMC, HCPC, GMC, SW-E)
- Recognised qualification in Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and demonstrable practice in this field (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level/supervised practice/additional training) that has been accepted for the purposes of professional registration with the British Psychoanalytic Council or equivalent.
- For Applied Psychologists: Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS and HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- For Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists: Post-graduate qualification in regulated mental health/social welfare profession and demonstrable practice in this field PLUS Masters level qualification in Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy or equivalent qualification, accredited by BCP or equivalent
- Completion of a BPS approved Clinical Supervision course for eligibility to provide supervisionof applied psychology trainees.
- Comprehensive portfolio of continued professional development
