Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Administrative Officer for the Learning Disability Social Care Service.The post is 22.5 hours supporting the Learning Disability North Team based in Chester le Street Health Centre, Chester le Street. The Learning Disability North Team are an integrated service between DCC social care and TEWV health professionals, who work with those adults who have a learning disability.The post holder will be required to provide a comprehensive, effective and confidential general administrative service to Service Managers and busy Adult Social Care Teams on a day to day basis. To act as a member of the administrative team, demonstrating a flexible approach, ensuring the needs of the relevant teams are met.

Main duties of the job

Listed below are some of the responsibilities this role will be primarily responsible for:

Maintain diaries and schedule appointments.

Research, prepare and supply information as required including statistics, tracking information and producing reports.

Co-ordinate meetings including arranging venues, sending invitations, organising agendas, taking minutes and following up associated action points.

Provide administrative support to grievance and disciplinary investigations.

Prepare documents using a variety of formats including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Applicants should hold an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent together with previous office/reception experience.Where our roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

The successful candidate will be working alongside our Council's hybrid model between their home address and Chester le Street Health Centre based in Chester le Street.

Essential

  • Diploma/NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale
  • ITQ Level 2 or equivalent or willingness to work towards
  • Key skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 or O Level / GCSE in Maths and English grade C or above

Experience

  • Significant secretarial/administrative experience

Desirable

  • Secretarial/administrative experience in a clinical environment
  • Experience of participation in service and quality improvement and initiatives
  • Experience of training/supervising junior administrative staff

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of secretarial and administrative procedures and the ability to undertake associated tasks ensuring adherence to defined procedures and guidelines.
