Job summary
MoJ, HMCTS and NHS England are testing how a regional hub model could provide strategic oversight over the psychiatric reports process to tackle inefficiencies, deliver swifter access to treatment for vulnerable people, prevent inappropriate custodial remands or reduce the length of remands and strengthen local relationships.
Through the Hub model we are seeking to:
- Improve the way that courts, health services and prisons work together at a local level to better support defendants with severe mental health needs
- Expedite the pathway into the right treatment and support for defendants, whether that is in hospital or in the community.
- Improve pathways and partnerships around early intervention to reduce the use of prison as a place of safety and remands for own protection.
Main duties of the job

To support the development, delivery and evaluation of the North East Health & Justice Hub.
To provide admin, data management and programme support in relation to the H&J Hub
To collaboratively raise the awareness and engagement of operational personnel regarding the Criminal Justice System and NHS to optimise health and justice outcomes .
To liaise with healthcare providers in HMP establishments to develop and enhance the information flow between HMCTS, healthcare providers and HMPPS to maximise efficiencies in the management of cases in the Magistrates' Courts and the Crown Courts, for the benefit of all parties.
