Job summary

The post holder is a member of a team responsible for providing catering services within a caf/dining room setting to staff, patients and visitors, which will include preparing and serving food and beverages, cleaning, cash handling and provision of hospitalities. the shift pattern will be between the hours of 7.30am and 6.15pm.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a Bank Catering Assistant within the Trust Hotel Service's Team. The post holder will be based at Lanchester Road Hospital, this post involves shift work including late/early. You will be required to work different varying shifts between the hours of 07.30am - 6.00 pm. This is to support the catering team in the on site coffee shop and provision of hospitalities.

Applicants should be highly motivated, customer focused, reliable, flexible and willing to work at short notice and have the ability to work alone and as part of a team. Experience is essential and the ability to demonstrate good culinary skills and knowledge, cash handling and associated paperwork.

Knowledge is required in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment are essential as you will be working in a demanding environment. Preparing, cooking and serving of meals in line with Hygiene Codes of Practice and legislation with particular attention to quantities (portion control), quality and the appearance of meals, assisting with maintaining the highest possible standard of hygiene and health and safety in line with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point. Assisting with menu planning.

Candidates should have a good general education andmust hold a minimum of Level two Food Hygiene certificate and a knowledge of allergens, as well as being able to demonstrate commitment to undertake further training and qualifications. You are also required to be IT literate.

Hotel Services are part of the Estates and Facilities Management Directorate and are responsible for Cleaning, Catering, Laundry & Linen, Portering, Reception (main Receptions), Transport and Pest Control trust wide to provide a clean, safe, supportive environment in which patients can recuperate.

Hotel Services is also credited with 'Hospitality Assured', a quality standard licensed by the Institute of Hospitality. We are a customer led and service orientated team.
