Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Psychological Therapist to join the newly formed Stockton Treatment & Intervention Team.

Stockton community mental health services have recently merged into Hub and Treatment Teams as part of the national community transformation agenda. A vital aspect of the transformation agenda is the provision of increased access to psychological therapies in the community.

The successful candidate will form an important part of the psychology service within community mental health services in Stockton. This role will predominantly focus on providing governed psychological therapies to service users experiencing moderate to severe mental health problems within the Treatment & Intervention Team. However, provision will also be required within the Stockton Community Hub Team as a shared psychology resource across the two services working closely together.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-professional team and provide clinical supervision and consultation to appropriate others which will include other professionals and agencies. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain and improve knowledge and skills based on best practice, particularly specialist knowledge and skills in the delivery of psychological therapies within Stockton Treatment and intervention team.

Main duties of the job

  • Accountability for professional actions.
  • Works independently according to objectives, and within the framework of trust/service area policies/procedures, the professional codes of practice and terms.
  • Provides clinical services to clients, families, and carers, undertaking psychological assessments and providing individual/group based intervention. Providing formulation and governed psychological therapies for moderate to severe mental health problems.
  • Facilitates the dissemination of evidence informed psychological practice within the team/service and teams in the Trust.
  • Provides teaching/training in psychological principles for the MDT.
  • Provides supervision and consultation to enable work undertaken by other clinicians.
  • Implements psychology service and team policies/service developments in the area of work and proposes developments within the psychological service and team.
  • Contributes to supervision of Assistant Practitioners/other attached graduate/students and supports line manager regarding placement objectives.
  • Undertakes governance, audit and clinical administrative activities, collating/analysing data, writing and presenting reports and project development. Uses IT software.
  • Participates in supervision, appraisal and CPD activities, including training.
  • Plans, organises and prioritises own time, activities and workload including own caseload, group sessions, teaching and research.
