Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Specialist within Rehabilitation & Recovery Services in Teesside. The successful applicant will hold professional registration and will have considerable skills and experience, alongside a thorough knowledge and understanding of Rehabilitation & Recovery Services.

The post holder will be an active part of the senior leadership team whilst maintaining a high level of clinical skill, including managing a caseload, engaging in assessments, and offering clinical supervision and coaching to the team and wider service. You will be involved in all service development work and will also promote and role model engagement in local and national drivers and policies.

A thorough understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Human Rights Act will be essential to the role as these will provide the framework for all consideration.

Main duties of the job

To ensure high professional standards of practice in accordance with relevant professional body, with accountability to the Nursing and Governance Directorate.

To practice with a recognised advanced clinical qualification within relevant framework and trust protocol, in accordance with competence and scope of practice.

To support diagnosis and treatment planning.

To be the professional lead in the designated specialty, leading on clinical development and ensuring the delivery of robust evidence-based practice.

To coordinate and deliver clinical supervision to support staff within the area of responsibility.

To support the ward or team manager and other senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework.

To participate in the establishment of systems assisting the Team Manager in the development of clinical practice, to ensure that the developments are embedded within the team and are sustainable.

To lead the planning, implementation, and participation in training relevant to the designated specialty.

To undertake ongoing audit of care and service delivery, underpinned by research and evidence-based practice, with opportunities to undertake research as part of the role

Essential

  • Registration with relevant professional body. (e.g. NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England)
  • For nursing professions - Recognised Practice Supervisor and /or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent
  • And - Trained in providing clinical supervision
  • For other professions - evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice in clinical supervision of other staff and/or students/ trainees
  • Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised advanced clinical qualification or Masters level credits e.g., Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP e.g. dysphagia, posture, autism assessment, rebound, social prescribing, sensory processing, Approved Mental Health Professional, Practice Educator (level 3 Independent Prescriber) * Note any other advanced qualification/masters credits not listed here as an example, must be clearly evidenced and listed as "advanced qualification or masters credits" - within the individuals application form
  • And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
  • Substantial clinical experience of working in relevant specialist area in collaboration with service users, families and relevant others or transferable experience of similar settings and willing to gain knowledge within first 12 months.
