Job summary

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join the Nursing and Governance Directorate as Risk Manager. This is a new role within the organisation and will support the Head of Risk Management to ensure that the risk management function is robust and that the Trust's risk management service provides a dynamic, high quality, reactive and proactive service, focused on delivering high standards of patient and staff safety.

A core element to this role will be the proactive planning, management and co-ordination for the ongoing development of the trusts new risk management system, InPhase. As a new system, there are significant development opportunities to realise the system benefits, and the successful candidate in this role will lead and support colleagues to utilise the full system potential.

The successful candidate will have experience in risk management, and/ or working with risk management systems, paired with good leadership skills, a supportive and can do attitude, and planning and organisational skills.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Main duties of the job

The Risk Manager will have responsibility for the design, development and oversight of a trust wide risk management information system with multiple applications to ensure we utilise this to its full potential to improve management of risk and improvements in safety and quality.

The role will incorporate wider change management in terms of system use, providing the tools and resources to aid staff at ward level and above to fully utilise the system tools to identify and mitigate risk and embed learning.

Requiring the evaluation of current ways of working and taking action to affect improvements, this will include tackling organisational change issues and communicating un-popular decisions. This will require a high degree of skill in terms of negotiation, persuasiveness and motivating. This will involve working with internal and external colleagues and partners to develop the system to its full potential, including external supplier, NHS Trusts, and NHS England.

The development and delivery of training and workshops will be a core component to ensure users are able to use the system and utilise reporting to improve safety and mitigate risk.
