Job summary

Come and join The South Tees Community Team (Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland) who are beginning an exciting community transformation of services. We are looking for a Clinical Specialist to join our journey to change and improve the local community's initial contact with our services with a "no wrong door approach" whilst leading on Structured Clinical Management.

We encourage and welcome discussions and the opportunity to visit our new working multi agency bases. Within this role we will support you to expand on your knowledge and expertise with opportunity to develop special interests such as substance misuse and psychological interventions.

The interventions team will provide complex interventions supporting people with severe and enduring mental health conditions whilst our identified multi agency community hubs will support with short term interventions and sign posting to other partner agencies and voluntary partners.

You will be enthusiastic and highly motivated with experience in the delivery of high-quality planned care. You will be a valued member of the team and will develop excellent working relationships with our partners and stakeholders.

You can expect regular supervision and support from the collective leadership. The service currently operates Monday-Friday 9-5pm, flexibility and part-time or job share can be considered.

Main duties of the job

Direct therapeutic work with a small focused caseload

Delivering / facilitating an SCM group

Leadership responsibilities including:

  • co-working complex cases
  • direct formal 1:1 supervision for staff
  • SCM group supervision
  • complex case support
  • informal supervision
  • Teaching / training to staff team and DTV.
  • Completion of the SCM Practitioner training course (12 month course) ran by Anna Freud.

The main aim of the SCM practitioner is to upskill / support the staff team with a "whole team" approach to SCM. SCM practitioners will contribute to multi-agency working such as writing repeat attender plans and facilitating meetings. SCM practitioners hold a small caseload which often (not always) comprises of high complexity. Smaller caseload of higher complexity allows for needs-based direct work and engagement in the much needed leadership role for the wider team.

As part of the leadership team will provide a service to those individuals who present with mental health issues, with an emphasis on psychologically informed brief interventions.

Qualifications/Experience

Essential

  • Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD
  • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
  • Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years and
  • Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification e.g Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (level 3 Independent Prescriber)
  • And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
  • Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
  • Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
  • Completed TEWV SCM management course

  • Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
