Job summary

The service is looking to recruit two Assistant Psychologists to work across Early Intervention in Psychosis Services. The service provides specialist mental health services for people aged 14-65 who experience or are at risk of experiencing Psychosis living in County Durham and Teesside. We deliver services across community to fit with the needs of individuals. There are two vacant posts, one is based at Parkside Community Mental Health Centre in Middlesbrough, the other is based at Chester-le-Street mental health centre. The successful candidate would be expected to travel to other NHS sites and community venues as part of their role

As well as formal supervision and learning opportunities this post provides excellent opportunities for exposure and informal learning and support from a range of Psychological professionals who cover our services including Clinical, Counselling and Forensic Psychologists, and Psychological Therapists trained in approaches such as systemic practice, CBT and EMDR. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other Health Professionals such as Nurses, and Psychiatrists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also be supported to deliver psychologically informed interventions under the close supervision of a qualified psychologist. This may be 1 to 1 with individual or through supporting the delivery of our group programme.

A secondary part of the role may be supporting our service users to complete Psychometrics, and other assessment tools that help us to understand people's needs and play an important part in the evaluation of our services. You would be responsible to collecting, inputting and producing reports interpreting this data

Early Intervention in Psychosis Team are always look for ways to improve and develop our services, so there is significant service development work going on at all times and Assistant Psychologists gain experience of supporting this work.
