The newly created position of Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities will be an integral part of the senior leadership team and play a key role in the further development and improvements of the services we offer.

Primarily based on site we can offer a flexible preference of base location between Durham, Tees and North Yorkshire.

Main duties of the job

Lead, develop and implement the Estates and Facilities functions to support the delivery of care and care support services across the Trust.

Provide leadership, managerial, professional and technical support to deliver a high quality and efficient Estates and Facilities service.

Build and maintain strong, effective and positive relationships within the Trust, it's key stakeholders and partner organisations.

Support the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital in providing principle advice and exploring developmental opportunities of all land, property, estate and facilities functions.

Deputise for the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital when needed, including Senior Leadership, Committee and Board level meetings.

Provide leadership to all staff within Estates and Facilities role modelling the Trust's values and challenging inconsistent behaviours.

Responsible for budgets as allocated by the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital and the finance department. Lead on cost improvement programs and ensure value for money in the day to day operation of the Trust estate.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The postholder will ensure the estate is in good order and ensure the provision of a safe, comfortable and fit for purpose environment for patients and staff ensuring compliance with all mandatory and statutory requirements.

Work closely with internal colleagues, stakeholders and external partners to ensure that all Estates and Facilities implications are considered as part of any longer term strategy.

To deliver highly complex and highly sensitive information, through verbal and written reports, technical highly expert opinion, guidance and advice to all management levels within the Trust on all aspects of the estate and facilities services.

Contribute to the creation of a clear vision for healthcare delivery and optimum service configuration to deliver required healthcare objectives and to meet the changing needs of the population.

Ensure that robust processes are in place to regularly monitor Estates and Facilities performance against national targets and to highlight and support the rectification of potential shortfalls. This includes but is not limited to ERIC, PAM, PLACE and Net Zero Carbon.

Responsible for the information governance, data accuracy and audit procedures associated with these systems to provide assurance to the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital that they are operating within statutory and other relevant legislation and guidance.

Lead on the reporting and management of the Estates and Facilities risks and risk registers.

The post holder will assist the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital to develop and deliver projects and identify opportunities to improve systems and processes that improve programme productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, and support continuous quality improvement, including structured lessons learned reviews.

Provide professional and managerial direction to the Estates, Facilities and Capital Management team including the development and delivery of service improvement plans.

Formulating long-term strategic plans, complex activities which involve uncertainty and which may impact across the whole organisation, sub-contractors and partner agencies.

To play a lead role in the development and implementation of all relevant Estates, and Facilities policies, procedures and protocols to meet legislative requirements, national standards and best practice. These will be communicated in such a way to ensure that all staff affected by them are aware of and are adopting practice that fulfils their requirements.

Develop and implement effective and transparent processes to ensure control of financial resources and delivery of cost efficient Estates and Facilities services.

To provide clear and inspirational leadership and promote and foster a team culture consistent with the Trusts values.
