"I still love a Monday, this is what I was meant to do"- a recent comment made by a team member to one of the directors within TEWV.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Higher Assistant Psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Team based at Huntington House, Monks Cross, York to work with older people with mental health needs within the community setting and to contribute to service development. The North East Community Mental Health Team covers a broad geographical area including urban and rural areas such as York, Easingwold, Pocklington and surrounding areas. This is a full-time position over a 12-month fixed term contract.The successful applicant must have a good honours degree in psychology and previous experience of working as an assistant psychologist. The post holder will need to have experiences of working people with mental health difficulties and, ideally, working therapeutically with older people. The post holder will need to demonstrate passion for involving service users in their care an ability to ensure compassionate approach is used, even in stressful or challenging situations.We are a very empathetic and supportive team who prioritise wellbeing and developmental opportunities to progress. We maintain good staff retention and have had staff members return to the team due to their positive experience of being in the team. Alongside this we are creative with our resources and cultivate an enjoyable working environment and hold regular social events.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the two Clinical Psychologists in the team, primarily helping to provide trauma-informed psychological assessment, formulation and low-intensity psychological wellbeing interventions to individuals with organic and/or functional difficulties and their carers.
The post-holder will be a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, working autonomously where appropriate and liaising directly with service users, families, carers and other key stakeholders and agencies. You would contribute directly multi-disciplinary meetings and clinical decision making and specifically to the development of trauma-informed low intensity wellbeing psychological interventions and safety planning.
There also may be opportunities to develop groups to support service users' wellbeing as well as supporting neuropsychological assessments. The post holder will assist training, audit and research and service development projects as part of service priorities and objectives for the year.

As a result, working in partnership with Primary Care and VCSE partners in local communities will be essential to meet the needs of service users, their carers and families.
