Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Specialist to work within our CAMHS Crisis service for young people across North Yorkshire, and York locality which is a 24/7 service. The candidate requires a professional registration Registration with relevant professional body. (e.g. NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England). The successful applicant will have the opportunity to become part of an amazing team which comprises of Nurses, Clinical Psychologist, and community support workers. The team conducts crisis risk assessment and provide enhanced crisis support interventions to young people who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis and help reduce the risk of unnecessary admissions.

To apply for this role you will have experience in mental health services and/or urgent care services. You will also have an understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act), detailed understanding of Safeguarding and Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical leadership to the team; ensuring clinical standards are maintained in the delivery of Urgent care service across a large geographical area. The candidate will be proficient at using audit tools to support the improvement of clinical practice /services. The nature of this work requires a calm, consistent approach to some challenging clinical situations alongside a willingness to be compassionate, creative and flexible in delivering clinical care. The candidate will be able to travel independently across the locality to meet the demands of the role. The candidate will be able to choose to be based at either our York or Scarborough base.

The successful applicant will be required to contribute to and lead ongoing service development, offering clinical supervision to staff members. The candidate will have the ability to make balanced decisions in a fast pace team and use positive risk taking approaches, whilst managing potentially high risk and pressured situations is an essential part of this role.

Acting as a resource in providing specialist advice, multi-agency liaison, training, guidance and consultation to the team and partner agencies is also an integral aspect of the role. The applicant will be an essential member of the multi disciplinary team and will be able to facilitate the coordination of urgent care delivered to children/ young people and their families.

About us

The North Yorkshire, York and Selby CAMHS Crisis Team provide 24/7 service across the locality. The team conduct crisis risk assessments and provide enhanced crisis intervention to young people and their families who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis. The team operates within a multi disciplinary team approach, with frequent opportunities for discussion, reflection and supervision to ensure the care delivery is person centered, meeting the needs of young people and families.
