Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Psychological Therapist to work on an innovative project within the Adult Mental Health Services (Community and Inpatient) in North Yorkshire, York and Selby. We are looking for someone who can work alongside our clinicians supporting the provision of high quality, reasonably adjusted mental health services for autistic people who access our AMH Teams.
This is a full-time, 12 month post until 31st March 2024 and offers the successful candidate an opportunity to work both clinically and at a service development level.
Main duties of the job
Working across Adult Mental Health Services in North Yorkshire, York and Selby to ensure that all autistic adults have access to an equitable, reasonably adjusted mental health service from TEWV.
Supporting the delivery of autism awareness training for staff in the relation to the delivery of reasonably adjusted psychological therapy
Monitoring the implementation of reasonable adjustments within the teams addressing all aspects of the way therapies are delivered and making them accessible for autistic people.
Working alongside clinical staff to support the delivery of reasonably adjusted psychological therapies.
Working with experts by experience to support co-production.

This project is aligned the TEWV Trustwide Autism Project which works across the whole Trust and across all specialties.

Train all staff in autism awareness, with relevant clinical staff trained at a higher level.

Co production is key to the development and improvement of our services.
The post holder will also offer specialist autism supervision, advice, consultation and training to Adult Mental Health Teams within North Yorkshire, York and Selby. The successful candidate will work under the support and guidance of a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist. Training and service developmental opportunities are key parts of the role. There are opportunities for innovation and leadership as we look to continually improve our services.
The post holder will:
Be accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of governed psychological therapy with autistic clients with highly complex mental health conditions.
Be compassionate in meeting the needs of autistic clients, their carers and families.
Be proactive in continual service improvement within own area.
Be responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client.
Support the development of autism aware risk assessments and risk management for individual clients and provides specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management of autistic people.
Formulate plans for psychological therapy for autistic clients mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice.
