Job summary

We have two full time Children's Well-being Practitioners positions available to join our team. One in Darlington, based at Mulberry Centre and one in Durham based at North End House.

Our Children's Wellbeing Practitioner's deliver a range of brief low intensity, evidenced based psychological therapies.

The post holder will work with children and young people (0-18years) with the principal objectives of providing assessment and intervention to children and young people who have mental health needs.

Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and liaising closely with other agencies you will assess, plan and implement care for children with mental health needs.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the CAMHS team providing assessment and CBT based low intensity interventions to individuals and groups.The post holder will work with young people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and should be committed to equal opportunities.

CLINICALAccept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.Provide screening, assessment and interventions for young people presenting with common mental health problems with a goal of self-management and recovery. Undertake patient-centred interviews which identify areas where the young person and their parents/carers wish to see change and/or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, organising assessment, signposting to appropriate services and facilitating referral to specialist services where required.Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low intensity psychological treatments. This will include group work; guided self-help, evidence based parent led intervention. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media.Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
