Job summary

Tees Community Adult Mental Services are under going an exciting transformation with the advent of the Community Mental Health Framework. This post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of that transformation. We are seeking to appoint a psychology graduate with previous experience as an assistant psychologist to work within our Community Adult Mental Health Team based at Foxrush House, Redcar.

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.

In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have experience of working with people with mental health difficulties as an Assistant Psychologist. In addition, they will be enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate about improving the emotional wellbeing and quality of life of people with mental health problems. They will be working as part of a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team under direct supervision from an experienced Principal Applied Psychologist.

About us

The post holder will deliver psychological informed assessment and intervention to service users and their families. They will also contribute to audit, evaluation and service development.

Qualification

Essential

  • Degree in psychology
  • Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice, youth work, work with offenders and/or research design and analysis
  • Masters or Phd

Experience

Essential

  • Experience and interest working with people with mental ill health or learning disability (paid or voluntary)
  • Experience working as a Psychology Assistant
  • Previous involvement in clinical audit, research or service evaluation
  • Experience using statistical software packages e.g. SPSS
  • Experience using psychometric assessments

Desirable

  • experience of working within inpatient setting in learning disability services

  • An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.
