Job summary
To work independently within secure inpatient services to enable service users to engage in educational activity within the onsite workshop. To provide support and training to service users who have a range of mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities, to enable them to maintain, restore or create a balance between their abilities and the demands of the activities within the workshop.
To engage service users in co-produced/planned activity and encourage them, in a compassionate manner, towards achieving their identified goals and to promote independence and well-being through a client- centred approach
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will develop and deliver educational opportunities to service users within the workshop at the secure inpatient service, taking into account the potential risks of both the service users and the environment. The post holder will also be expected to liaise with external providers and educational organisations in order to develop the service successfully.
The successful applicant will take responsibility for the safety of the environment by ensuring the necessary health and safety checks are carried out and equipment is maintained appropriately; ordering and maintaining materials in line with service budget; supporting and supervising junior staff when in the area.
