Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for delivering the Estates & Facilities Directorate's Energy, Utility, Sustainability & Environmental management services to achieve a Trust-wide carbon reduction in line with the NHS sustainability/carbon reduction agenda and in turn deliver best value for money in an energy efficient environment through developing and implementing effective energy, utility, and environmental saving programmes which will ensure a reduction of the Trusts overall environmental risk and drive forward sustainability and the Trusts Green Credentials.

Main duties of the job

  • Experience in the use of energy monitoring and targeting techniques within buildings.
  • Experience in the management of environmental management systems and processes.
  • Experience of using IT systems, for the storage and retrieval of energy and environmental information.
  • Experience of Utility billing and tariffs.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or BTec HNC/HND Qualification in, or equivalent experience in one or more of the following:- Energy Management, Sustainable Development or Environmental Management Qualification in Public Buildings Energy Assessment

Skills

Essential

  • Able to work alone and as part of a team. Able to work under pressure and to deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy. Ability to formulate ideas and present as proposals for policies and projects. Ability to create and maintain working relationships with internal and external colleagues at all levels.

Desirable

  • Understand and respect for equality and diversity.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Good organisational and administrative skills. Specialist knowledge of Energy Management and Sustainability.
  • Knowledge of the development and management of complex information systems.
  • Knowledge of building engineering services, their control and management systems.

  • Membership of professional Institution / body. CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor
  • Experience of working in an NHS environment
