Job summary

This post is being advertised to address a temporary need for 18 months, however the Trust has made the commitment to offer the successful applicant a permanent contract with the Trust. An exciting opportunity has risen for Band 6 Clinical Lead Registered Nurse to join Birch Ward, an Adults Inpatient Eating Disorders Service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is able to work with the wider MDT, voluntary sector and third sector organisations.

Wellbeing of colleagues and working collaboratively is essential as we see this as an important aspect to keeping our staff happy at work.

The team aim is to work in partnership with patients, carers and others utilising the various services and teams we network with to work towards a level of recovery as deemed by the individual.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of patients are always maintained.

Assesses patients including those with complex needs and develops, implements, and evaluates intervention plans as part of the multi-disciplinary team, with the involvement of the patient and where appropriate, their carer.

Responsible for the safe administration of medicines in accordance with Trust policy, legal requirements and NMC guidance.

Plans and co-ordinates clinical interventions to challenging behaviour such as self- harm and aggression. Promotes positive behaviour support based on a formulation of the factors surrounding a patient's behaviour.

In the absence of the Ward/Unit Manager takes responsibility for the clinical team when required including work allocation and checking, performance reviews and delegated appraisals, ensuring appropriate training is delivered and undertaking informal stages of sickness management (including return to work interviews), grievance, disciplinary and capability matters.

Ensures all nursing staff, associate practitioners, healthcare assistants and student nurses are accessing appropriate clinical supervision and provides skilled clinical supervision, both individual and group.

Resolves informal complaints effectively, avoiding escalation where possible and informs the ward/unit manager in a timely manner.

Although this is an autonomous role the post holder will receive full support via the daily MDT meetings, supervision, and team training. As well as an appraisal to support professional development.
