Job summary

We are looking to recruit a full time Medical Secretary to provide comprehensive and efficient secretarial support to our Community Mental Health Team Consultant Psychiatrists and their medical team, as key part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent IT and organisational skills, with good understanding of information systems, plus knowledge of medical terminology (or willingness to learn within the first 3 months). The post will include development opportunities which could include being the site Microsoft Teams Champion. Very good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels are required and an ability to deal with complex situations.

  • BTEC Diploma/Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Management OR equivalent (i.e. NVQ in Business Administration / RSA Level 3) OR equivalent knowledge gained through relevant work experience plus a willingness to work towards the Level 5 in Leadership and Management within an agreed timescale.
  • Key Skills in Numeracy and Literacy
  • IT Qualification (i.e. ECDL Qualification, RSA, NVQ in Business Administration) OR equivalent knowledge gained through relevant work experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant Experience in a Clinical Setting
  • Experience in participation in service and quality improvement
  • Experience of supervising others

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of data protection and service user / staff confidentiality in line with defined procedures and guidelines.
  • Understanding of quality improvement initiatives
