Job summary

A Project Manager is being sought on a part time temporary basis, 15 hours a week for 10 months. This is to support the coordination of Health Education England funded training places, workforce transformation and new workforce roles, to improve the access to evidenced based psychological therapies for people with severe mental health problems across County Durham. This is part of the national ambition of the community mental health transformation for all age adults . The post holder will work closely with Psychology and Therapy leads, to develop a sustainable workforce to improve access to evidence based psychological therapy for people with severe mental health needs, to support the transformation of community mental health teams and mental health hubs as community transformation continues across statutory agencies and the voluntary sector. The post will also be supported by the organisation's overall project management team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will project manage the workforce development, coordination and planning, as part of community mental health transformation, to improve access to psychological therapies and make efficient use of Health Education England (HEE) funded training opportunities and new workforce roles. This will involve developing a business case and ensuring that the outputs specified in the business case are delivered on time and to specification. Initial mapping has taken place of the limited resource to deliver evidence based psychological therapy for people with severe mental health problems. This project involves working with psychology and therapy leads, alongside operational management leads and multiple agencies, in supporting the management of change and culture for community mental health services to better meet population need.

About us

The Project Management role involves working with those with lived experience, to advance co-production and ensure workforce developments consider potential impacts on service users and carers. The role involves regular reporting through business and workforce governance on the progress and risks in the delivery of improved access to evidence based psychological therapy, uptake of training and transformation of workforce roles . The role involves the day to day management of the project and monitoring improvements in access. The post holder will support and work alongside Psychology and Therapy Leads, operational leads, clinicians and the multi-agency Durham Community Mental Health Transformation steering group.

  • Specialist knowledge across range of procedures (Project Management), underpinned by theory.
  • Knowledge of specific area (Project Management), acquired through degree or equivalent experience or training, plus further staff or project management knowledge to post graduate diploma level equivalent
  • Evidence of training in programme or project management principles and techniques (or willingness to achieve within agreed timescale)

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification
  • Quality improvement qualification, or evidence of training in quality improvement principles and techniques
  • Educated to postgraduate diploma level in a relevant subject
  • The Trust's QIS (Quality Improvement System) for Leaders Certificate (or willing to achieve within agreed timescale)
