The South Durham CAMHS team has a warm cohesive feel, where we are supportive towards each other and always open minded. As a team we are always approachable, down to earth and professional. Within the South Durham CAMHS Team we have a very varied work load, which means that every day will bring new and exciting opportunities for you to develop your skills. In order to support you in your development we will use regular appraisal and talent management, to identify your interests and development opportunities. As a team we will support you with both formal training and continuing professional development opportunities.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to appoint a CAMHS Clinician on a permanent basis. In order to fulfil the essential criteria for this post you need to have completed preceptorship, and be a Professional registered with a regulatory body. The South Durham CAMHS team is a dynamic team that is comprised of CAMHS clinicians with varying professional backgrounds, including Nursing, psychology, Social Workers, OT's and Speech and Language Therapists, enabling us to provide high quality holistic mental health care to the children and young people accessing our services.
The successful applicant will work with the MDT to provide assessment and intervention to children and young people. As part of the MDT we will provide ongoing support to the successful applicant through supervision and talent management.
We are a forward thinking, creative team that encourages all team members to share their ideas to improve our service for young people and their families. The role of the CAMHS clinician is crucial in young peoples recovery and improving outcomes. The successful applicant could have skills in delivering a therapy, non-medical prescribing or have experience in providing nursing or Mental Health interventions, risk management or care co-ordination.

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS trust places an emphasis on Staff wellbeing and provides access to a number of formal staff support services, which are available to staff on appointment. South Durham CAMHS have identified a number of staff within the team who coordinate a number of in house staff wellbeing activities. The team are regularly available to meet with staff members and there are regular whole team events to support staff whilst they are at work.
The South Durham CAMHS teams are based at the Acley Centre in Newton Aycliffe. The Acley centre, benefits from being a spacious open plan office environment with therapy spaces to enable clinicians to work effectively with the children and young people accessing the service. Free Car Parking is available on site. The South Durham Locality is a large geographical area, combining both Urban and Rural locations. The service has very good transport links being very close to the A1 Motorway, a train station within walking distance and good opportunities to travel by bus. The Acley Centre is situated close to various local amenities including shops and petrol stations. Newton Aycliffe is easily accessible from locations such as Newcastle, Darlington, Durham and Northallerton in approximately 30 minutes.
