Job summary
This post offers exciting opportunities within the Tees Crisis Service. The service consists of North and South Tees multi-disciplinary Intensive Home Treatment Teams based at Flatts Lane Centre in Middlesbrough, Parkside Resource Centre in Billingham and Roseberry Park Hospital. The multi-disciplinary teams offer specialist mental health services to adults experiencing a mental health crisis, their families and carers in the community. The teams also work closely with statutory agencies and others who provide services to people with mental health needs.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to appoint an Applied Psychologist; based within one of the Intensive Home Treatment Teams. The vacancy is open to either a newly qualified Psychologist or an experienced Psychologist, with appropriate job description and banding being applied accordingly to the successful candidate. Successful candidates who are recruited to a band 7 post/newly qualified Psychologists, this will be a developmental post and will be expected to work towards the competencies of the higher band within an agreed time frame; being regraded to the 8a role upon successful completion.

The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to people accessing the Tees Crisis Service. The role will involve supporting the Intensive Home Treatment Teams in developing their psychological skills, knowledge and attitudes. It will be expected that the post holder will have knowledge and experience of delivering trauma informed care along with excellent interdisciplinary working skills and an interest in developing and delivering an innovative service.
In addition to direct clinical work, providing consultation and where necessary clinical supervision to other team members, including Assistant Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists is an important element of the role.
Applicants should have experience in working within Adult Mental Health services and show strong patient-centred values. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, motivated, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellent mental health care and evidence-based interventions.The post holder will also be expected to develop working relationships with colleagues working across AMH services and interfacing services/agencies in Teesside.
Experience of clinical leadership and supervision is desirable. Good working knowledge of the assessment and management of risk is also an important requirement for the role.
Opportunities to develop special interests and engage in CPD will be encouraged, as will opportunities to undertake service development activities. There will also be the opportunity to deliver longer-term psychological therapies as part of CPD or to maintain accreditation.
The Service is keen to develop close links with all other psychology specialisms across the Trust and there are also strong links to the local Teesside Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme. There are excellent opportunities for peer support/ supervision, CPD, teaching/ training, research and audit.
