Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a 12 months fixed term Ward Manager position in Ivy/Clover, a 6 bed female low secure Learning Disability ward in Secure Inpatient Services.
The successful candidate will need to have a genuine desire to improve the lives of individuals within secure services and will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of issues relating to risk assessment, recovery approaches, Positive Behaviour Support, and physical and mental well-being.
We fully embrace the Key Principles of "Valuing People" through adopting a positive and proactive approach to Service User involvement and Clinical Governance. In addition, the successful candidates will need to demonstrate sound leadership and managerial qualities. Experience of Forensic services desirable but not essential.
It is an exciting time to join Secure Inpatient Services as you will be joining the service during a significant period of change . The successful candidate will be key to maintaining inpatient service delivery and moving the service and team forward to meet the needs of individuals.
Main duties of the job
You will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills and be a role model to others. To be professionally accountable and responsible for the delivery of the clinical service by the ward teamTo provide an environment and culture where patients, carers and staff can raise concerns and be confident that: they will be listened to, their views will be respected and their concerns will be investigated where appropriate, without fear of retribution.As well as providing direct management supervision, a significant part of this role will be leading the team and managing the general running of the ward.The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of the Duty Site Coordinator rota (which includes some weekend working).

The Secure Inpatient Service provides a specialist service for adults with a mental health disorder, learning disability or autism who exhibit behaviours of concern to others and to themselves. The service provides individualised, comprehensive packages of care within Medium and Low Secure inpatient settings and has links to High Secure services and prisons.
The ethos of the service is to work collaboratively with service users and carers in the completion of assessments, treatment, intervention planning and rehabilitation to enable a person-centered recovery-focused approach to care, meeting their needs in a holistic manner.
