An exciting opportunity has arisen (fixed term - 12 months) for a competent, confident and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our MHSOP team. Your shifts would be based over 4 days working between 9am-5pm.
Occupational assessments and interventions will be completed as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a strong commitment to collaborative working, and focus on the provision of high quality evidence based services to individuals with mental health problems
A commitment to core focus on mental health and specifically the assessment of occupational performance and the therapeutic use of occupation is essential.
The post will offer varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal. Well defined supervision systems are in place.
In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.
Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.
Main duties of the job
Exciting opportunity to join the community older person's mental health service in Middlesbrough.
You will support service users from both organic and functional pathways, working as part of a wider MDT which includes, psychiatry, psychology, advanced nurse practitioner, community psychiatric nurses and support workers.

Manages a complex/specialist OT caseload from assessment to discharge from therapy. Service users may have multiple needs with a combination of physical and mental health needs. You will also support functional assessments as part of assessment of neuro degenerative disease as this forms part of our core business.
Undertakes complex occupational therapy assessments.Assesses and manages risk effectively in clinical and community settings including the service users own home.Works with service users and carers to identify occupational therapy goals as part of the overall Multidisciplinary Team plan.Develops and implements specialist interventions for individuals or groups, in collaboration with the service user(s) and MDT to achieve therapeutic goals.Uses technical and creative skills to engage service users in therapeutic activities and encourages service users/carers in a compassionate manner, to support them in achieving their identified goals.Monitors and evaluates occupational therapy treatment in order to measure progress and modifies treatment plans to ensure effectiveness of clinical interventions.Provides reports and makes recommendations on service user progress at clinical meetings and participates in the clinical decision-making process regarding service user care programmes as part of the multidisciplinary team.Provides specialist clinical advice to other healthcare professionals including those in the acute hospital sector with limited mental health or learning disability experience.Provides advice, education and training to service users and carers.Undertakes health promotion activities.
