Job summary

North Yorkshire and York Adult Learning Disability Services have a 2 year fixed contract or a secondment opportunity for a Clinical Service Lead for Behaviours that Challenge/Positive Behavioural Support.

Do you want to:

-Support complex clinical casework with a small personal caseload

-Support the training and skill development of your colleagues

-Take a leadership role within the locality, developing services and workforce

-Supervise colleagues to complete person-centred assessment and support of Behaviours that Challenge using a Positive Behaviour Support framework

-Have an active role in the collective leadership of NNY ALD Services

-Create and support organisational vision for Positive Behavioural Support at a trust level

-Work with a passionate, values driven service who aim to improve people quality of life

We are looking to appoint an individual who has or is working towards a Master's Level Qualification in PBS or ABA alongside their core professional qualification. This practitioner will have extensive practice experience at a senior level and be skilled at developing and supporting colleagues. They will work across the NY&YALD with some consultative work with the localities service users in inpatient settings.

Supervision and support will be available from the current post holder or the Positive and Safe Nurse Consultant for the trust.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities / Patient Contact

To provide skilled leadership to professionals and direct care staff working with people who have learning disabilities and additional health problems associated with mental health and complex behavioural needs in order to secure and assure the highest standards of clinical care.

To oversee clinical activity within the Learning Disability Intensive Support Team (LDIST) within NY&Y to ensure equity of service.

To support and advise the LDIST and CLDT's in achieving good health outcomes for people who have learning disabilities and complex needs and reduce the need for hospital admission and out of area placements.

To monitor and evaluate clinical care and lead on the development of improved health care provision both locally and within the trust pathways development groups.

To ensure the provision of contemporary, person-centred and evidence based professional care.

To lead on maintaining safety and safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children within area of responsibility.

To ensure effective clinical risk assessment and management processes are followed.

To ensure the provision of contemporary, person-centred and evidence based professional care.

To enable independence and inclusion of people who have complex needs, enabling and empowering them to access local services and supporting them to overcome barriers

Essential

  • hold a recognised professional qualification in Nursing/ Psychology/OT/ Salt/ Physiotherapy
  • diploma or above with demonstrable skills in PBS
  • Recognised clinical teaching qualification or equivalent clinical mentoring and teaching experience
  • evidence of related CPD

Desirable

  • completed or be willing to work towards a masters in PBS
  • Leadership qualification or willingness to work towards

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience working with people with complex mental ill health or learning disabilities in an inpatient or community environment.
  • Extensive experience working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, commissioners and 3rd Sector partners
  • Extensive Leadership experience
  • Extensive experience of providing clinical supervision, mentoring and teaching to healthcare professionals and students.
  • Significant experience delivering change and service improvement across more than one setting
