Job summary
Due to additional funding via TEWV, CCG and the PCC we are in a position to continue to develop service delivery between Mental Health Services and North Yorkshire Police. This innovative way of working allows collaborative working between mental health services and the police working to ensure that people with mental health concerns receive the most appropriate care and support.
As a result of this additional funding we have full and part time vacancies across York, and Scarborough. We are looking to recruit highly motivated, experienced band 6 practitioners to be part of an existing team aimed at delivering support to people in York, Harrogate and Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale who present to the police in mental health distress.

Main duties of the job
Within this role you will be working alongside front line police officers to offer face to face assessment, advice and guidance to enable them to support people who present to the police in mental health distress as well as providing a telephone triage directly to the person of concern where deemed appropriate.
You will work closely with the Force Control Room Triage practitioner to ensure that people who are identified to have mental health concerns receive care and support from the Street Triage Team in a timely manner. You will also be required to work closely with the local Crisis, Liaison Teams and other mental health services.
Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
About us
The team will be based in York - Force control room, Fulford Police Station and Scarborough Cross Lane Hospital (co located with the crisis team). The team will operate between the hours of 11.30 - 00.00, as part of a seven day rota.
All successful candidates will need to undertake the police level 3 vetting process, relevant DBS checks and desirably have basic IT skills as they will be required to have training and ongoing access to information on both Police IT systems and TEWV IT systems.

- MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education.
- Recognised sign-off mentor (or equivalent) or must be achieved within agreed timescale.
- Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

- Significant experience working with people with complex mental ill health, behavioural and social issues, in a community setting.
