Job summary

We are expecting! An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North Yorkshire and York Perinatal Team for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner for one year to cover maternity leave. We are a specialist service that strives to deliver excellent standards of care to expectant and new mothers of all ages with severe and complex mental health problems. We are one team with two cells; one covering the Northallerton and Harrogate area and the other covering the York and Scarborough area. This post is to cover the York and Scarborough cell so can be based in either place.

We are looking for a highly motivated mental health nurse with some experience in perinatal mental health and further specialist training will be provided to the successful candidates. The post holder must be able to work flexibly and independently within a challenging environment.

The post holder will have experience of assessment and managing risk of service users within the community. They will also have knowledge of psychological interventions and models such as CBT, DBT etc. The post holder must have excellent communication skills with a detailed knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be an active member of the clinical leadership team as well as supporting with service improvement and operational duties when required.

The successful candidate will provide daily leadership to other members of the multi-disciplinary team and will be involved in the ongoing review and development of the service. This will involve working effectively with other leadership colleagues and external stakeholders.

There will be an expectation that you will be involved in the assessment, formulation, and delivery of interventions to women, and will act as care coordinator/lead professional when required.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
