There is an exciting opportunity to work in a new service currentlyunder development. The service is part of a pilot for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to access Intensive positive behaviour support (IPBS). The Intensive Positive Behaviour Support(IPBS ASD) service will work with children and young people with ASD who present with behaviours of concern who are at risk of hospital admission or a placement breakdown. IPBS aim to support children and young people to live with their families rather than needing a hospital admission or residential placements. This involves providing intensive assessment and intervention.
Main duties of the job

- To be responsible for receiving referrals, triaging and prioritising these, completing evidence-based assessments and interventions .
- to use client-centered approaches to co-producing negotiated occupational goals and evaluate these with service users collaboratively.
- To participate in clinical/professional and management supervision
- To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working
- To contribute to and lead on service improvement and quality initiatives
- To use the Trust electronic patient record system
- To abide by all Trust policies and procedures
- To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges
A person applying for this role would need to have skills of working with people with a autism spectrum disorder and a knowledge base of positive behaviour support. As well as this area of specialty the successful candidate would need to have a willingness to work with children from the wider CAMHS teams who are at risk of hospital admission and need intensive support and intervention to improve their quality of life and manage risk.

As a clinician in TEWV you will manage a small complex caseload independently, assessing challenging behaviour within all environments and providing individualised interventions, always demonstrating adherence to the Trust Values and operating as a leader in the team, service and organisation.

The multi-disciplinary team works with young people up to the age of 18 who have autism spectrum disorder and their families to deliver PBS assessment and interventions to address behaviours that challenge in accordance with the Behaviours that challenge policy to reduce intensity, frequency and duration of behaviour and enhance quality of life. The caseload will be small to allow for the intensive assessment and intervention to be delivered.
This proposal comes against a backdrop of the NHS Long Term Plan which sets out a commitment that no more than 12-15 young people with Autism and/or a Learning Disability per million population will be receiving inpatient care. In recent years we have seen a sharp decline in the number of admissions with learning disability but this has not been matched for Autism
The post holder will provide evidence-based assessment and interventions as part of the PBS pathway, and offer input to individuals, their families and carers, in a variety of settings eg home, school, and care placement. We are looking for clinician who can work flexibly to meet service need and has the vision, energy and inspiration to develop creative, imaginative solutions to working with young people and families.
