Job description
Job responsibilities
The Intensive Positive Behaviour Support team is based within Specialist CAMHS covering the Durham Tees Valley area and is located at Acklam Road Hospital in Middlesbrough. The multi-disciplinary team works with young people up to the age of 18 who have autism spectrum disorder and their families to deliver PBS assessment and interventions to address behaviours that challenge in accordance with the Behaviours that challenge policy to reduce intensity, frequency and duration of behaviour and enhance quality of life. The caseload will be small to allow for the intensive assessment and intervention to be delivered.
This proposal comes against a backdrop of the NHS Long Term Plan which sets out a commitment that no more than 12-15 young people with Autism and/or a Learning Disability per million population will be receiving inpatient care. In recent years we have seen a sharp decline in the number of admissions with learning disability but this has not been matched for Autism
The post holder will provide evidence-based assessment and interventions as part of the PBS pathway, and offer input to individuals, their families and carers, in a variety of settings eg home, school, and care placement. We are looking for clinician who can work flexibly to meet service need and has the vision, energy and inspiration to develop creative, imaginative solutions to working with young people and families.
