Job summary
Jay Ward is a specialised bespoke five bedded ward for men aged over 18 involved with the criminal justice system. Their needs are individually assessed, and treatment plans formulated. Length of admission up to 3 months of which the formulation and treatment plan will inform their treatment/recovery pathway either within health and justice system or secure inpatient care.
We are looking to recruit a diverse, dynamic, enthusiastic team to develop & grow The Prison Transfer Assessment Unit working closely with our partners within the health and justice setting to ensure the right care in a timely manner to this patient group. Main duties of the job
Our vision is to provide a centre of excellence within secure inpatient care that is busy, rewarding, where you will get to practice a full range of psychiatric skills & interventions from assessment, treatment, and recovery. You will have opportunities to develop professionally and to expand your professional portfolio through PDP and extensive training opportunities.
We are looking to attract an experienced professional Clinical Lead to support the ward manager in embarking upon and developing the prison transfer assessment unit within Secure Inpatient Care here at Ridgeway Hospital.
The team will consist off a range of multi-disciplinary professions and will provide high quality mental health care and treatment. The team will work with internal and external partners including working collaboratively and closely with prison colleagues, probation and existing services within Ridgeway Hospital, secure inpatient services.
You will need excellent communication skills and a teamwork ethos.
The position requires shift work, including occasional nights, on a rotational basis.
There will be opportunity within the role to develop competence and knowledge enabling career progression within the service.

The Secure Inpatient Service provides a specialist service for adults with a mental health disorder, learning disability or autism who exhibit behaviours of concern to others and to themselves. The service provides individualised, comprehensive packages of care within Medium and Low Secure inpatient settings and has links to High Secure services and prisons.
The ethos of the service is to work collaboratively with service users and carers in the completion of assessments, treatment, intervention planning and rehabilitation to enable a person-centered recovery-focused approach to care, meeting their needs in a holistic manner.
