Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time Applied Psychologist to join the Selby, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team. However, we welcome applications from those who would want to work part time, as we would also consider this post as part time/job share.

The successful candidate will work as part of an expanding, friendly and supportive CAMHS multi-disciplinary team in Selby, providing a range of specialist assessments, formulations and interventions to children, young people and their families. Due to the expansion of the team we are about to move to larger premises in Selby, based at Worsley Court, which will include free parking on site.

Main duties of the job

Clinical work will include working with young people and their families, with a range of emotional and mental health presentations. Clinical work will also include work into the Neurodevelopmental Pathway, therefore experience of working into Children's Mental Health services, and assessing and working with individuals with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) would be beneficial. However, we also welcome applications from clinicians who are working in other specialties as we value key transferable skills. We welcome candidates who are trained in ADOS; although, we are also happy to train a successful candidate in these approaches/assessments once they join the team. Training and development are valued and encouraged within our service.

This role will also include a variety of leadership and organisational roles including supporting the development and improvement processes that are currently taking place within the service. This will include leading on various service development and strategic opportunities in the service, locality or trust. This role will include supporting the team in developing their psychological skills, knowledge and attitudes through providing leadership, consultation, formulations, and delivering supervision. The post holder will need to develop key working relationships with colleagues within the team, with CAMHS services across the trust, and with other local external agencies

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Trained in care co-ordination
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

Essential

  • Must have substantial experience of Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care co-ordinator and leader of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Liaison and joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
  • Teaching, training, clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses.
  • Experience working with children and young people in a clinical environment.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Doctoral level knowledge of Evidence- based practice relevant to the role
  • Knowledge of Risk assessment and risk management
  • Has knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health and its implications for clinical practice.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance, Audit and research methodology
  • Knowledge of common clinical presentations experienced in CAMHS, including Neurodiverse challenges such as ASC and ADHD, and have appropriate experience in the assessment and treatment of these conditions.
