Job summary
The Youth Justice Service is a specialist multi-agency team responsible for the assessment, support and risk management of children who present serious or repeated offending behaviour, and also for targeted diversion support to children at risk of entry.
We do not separate or stigmatise challenging, risky behaviour in North Yorkshire, but recognise it as unmet need. Our youth justice provision is therefore integrated within the Council's Early Help service to ensure seamless support, using a shared model of advanced systemic and relational practice.
The postholder would also join a large and supportive network of clinicians working in CAMHS across North Yorkshire and York.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in with vulnerable and high risk young people who present with multiple, complex needs in criminal justice or local authority settings. We are looking for someone creative and flexible to work closely with the pilot's Principal Psychologist, and other colleagues in health and social care. The post holder will provide consultation, teaching, training to health and local authority colleagues and psychological assessment and intervention to young people who present with a range of risks and needs.
Successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a highstandardwill also have an understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Children Act 1989, 2004), detailed understanding of Safeguarding and Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice. The ability to make balanced decisions and use positive risk taking approaches, whilst managing potentially high pressure situations is an essential part of this role. Providing specialist knowledge and support to the team and wider multi-agency colleagues is also integral.
About us
The team is made up of skilled professionals i.e. trained practitioners, managers, police and the life coach (psychologist). All the team work together to assist and support children and young people.
