Job summary

There is no age barrier to becoming unwell in later life with both mental and physical health problems. Our progressive Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Team in North Yorkshire & York deliver high quality, accessible, person-centred care to the population of older people which the Trust serves.

Woldview is an 18 bed mixed gender ward for older people with organic illness at the newly built Foss Park Hospital in York. We work collaboratively with service users and carer's to develop individual well-being treatment plans.

Main duties of the job

The service offers assessment, diagnosis and treatment for older people who are suffering from depression, anxiety, dementia and other mental health problems, alongside complex physical health problems or related frailty.

We have a multi-disciplinary inpatient team including nurses, medical staff, a physical health care practitioner, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychology. There is local access to nutrition and dietetic staff within MHSOP. We work in partnership with local Community Teams and our Care Home and Dementia Team

You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered General Nurse and able to demonstrate continuing professional development, effective generic nursing skills and the confidence to meet the requirements of a Band 5 position working primarily with the older person.
