Job summary

An opportunity for two for Mental Health Community Senior Practitioner (Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker) to join the Harrogate Integrated Community Team

We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, motivated and experienced clinicians to deliver assessment, care co-ordination and treatment/intervention within an integrated multidisciplinary team. We currently have an opportunity to contribute both to the Primary Care offer in the team and another in the Secondary Care offer.

The team has an in house multi-disciplinary offer, comprising of Psychiatric and Psychological input, Occupational therapy input, and support from nursing and social work inputs. The team also has an in house employment support worker, assertive outreach component and an in house Physical Health facility making a wide scope of input readily available to team members. Our colleagues in IAPT are also in the same building making consultation / referral readily available.

Outside of Windsor House, the team has regular contact with the local borough council, the local authority, the regional drug and alcohol service, the third sector pathway and the novel GP based first contact practitioner offer.

Windsor House is situated walking distance outside of the town centre with ample off street parking nearby.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience at a Band 6 level, as well as those with existing experience.

Main duties of the job

Promotes and maintains safety, privacy and dignity of all patients.

Undertakes assessments of and provides interventions for those referred to the team for support.

Acts, wherever applicable, in accordance with the Mental Health Act and associated policies and procedures including associated report writing and attendance at professional forums.

Responsible for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes at all times.

Provides clinical advice on complex issues to other members of the clinical team and staff from other disciplines.

Undertakes risk assessments in accordance with the Trust's Clinical Risk Assessment and Management Policy.

Supports individual patients and their families/carers in the community.

Responsible for decision making and coordination in a crisis situation.

Participates in the duty rota as required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current professional registration with an approved professional body.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Recognised sign-off mentor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Leadership or management qualification
  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience working with people with mental ill health in a care environment.
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
  • Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate.
  • Mentoring or facilitating students on practice placement.

Desirable

  • Leadership or management experience
  • Significant experience working with people with mental ill health in a community environment.
