Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to Lead our Durham & Darlington locality. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Pharmacy Technician to lead the team in the delivery of the clinical pharmacy, medicines management and dispensing/supply service across the locality, including managing the rotation of foundation pharmacists around services and/or sites. You will arrange and co-ordinate the placement of pre-registration pharmacists from other Trusts, and work experience opportunities for pharmacy students from Newcastle and Sunderland universities. You will have the opportunity to line manage some of the team, and will be given the opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills. You will work closely with the wider pharmacy leadership team to influence, develop and lead, when necessary, Trustwide projects and service developments.
Main duties of the job
- To lead and manage a locality of the pharmacy directorate
- To line manage Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and other members of the pharmacy team
- To lead on designated areas of pharmacy responsibility across the whole trust
- The post holder will work with all professional staff, patients and carers in the provision of a trust-wide clinical pharmacy service, ensuring high quality patient focused pharmaceutical care
- To deputise for the Deputy Chief Pharmacist and Chief Pharmacist and be involved in pharmacy service developments as needs or opportunities arise
- To be engaged in delivering the medicines optimisation strategy / framework
- The post holder will be engaged in an aspect of the clinical pharmacy service
- To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities
- To promote at all times a positive image of the Pharmacy Department and the wider Trust
About us
Our friendly and hard-working locality team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants is based at West Park Hospital in Darlington and Lanchester Road Hospital in Durham. It provides clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards at those sites plus Auckland Park Hospital in Bishop Auckland, and to community teams in all specialties across the locality. Medicines supply services to the locality are delivered from our dispensary at West Park Hospital.
