Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist or Psychological Therapists accredited in behavioural and cognitive psychotherapy to join Durham and Darlington Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service at an exciting time of service transformation. The successful candidate will work as senior clinical lead across our nationally acclaimed Getting Help Team and our Mental Health Support Teams in Schools.

Applicants should have significant experience of delivering psychological informed interventions to children experiencing a range of mental health problems. The successful candidates are also required to have a core professional training in mental health and be registered with a regulatory body (e.g. NMC, HCPC).

Additionally, applicants must already be qualified in behavioural and cognitive psychotherapy and accredited with BABCP at least to practitioner level and be qualified/trained within clinical supervision.

The success application will also have significant experience within clinical supervision, service development, clinical leadership and training development.

Main duties of the job

Candidates will be expected to have the necessary skills and experience to undertake direct clinical work with children and families, provide clinical supervision to both low and high intensity practitioners. They will also be required to clinically lead the service and contribute to the ongoing development of the child and adolescent mental health services.

The Getting Help team and Mental Health Support Teams are part of the Children and Young Peoples - Increase Access to Psychological therapies Project (CYP-IAPT) project which is a service transformation project led by NHS England and Health Education England tying into NHS England's long term plan. The service aims to deliver Low and High Intensity intervention across a range of presentation and conditions and works closely with schools to deliver a whole school approach.

Experience

  • Experience of working as a psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings
  • Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as care co-ordinator within the context of a multidisciplinary team
