An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the mental health team working in HMP Haverigg.
HMP Haverigg is a category D adult male prison, located just outside Millom in the village of Haverigg in Cumbria. The West coast attractions, the Lake District and the 1000ft high fell of Black Combe, are all easily reached from this area.
Health and Justice Service in TEWV have experience of working in prisons across the North West and North East.
We welcome applicants from newly qualified psychologist (band 7) and experienced psychologist (band 8a) and banding will be aligned accordingly to experience and skills.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic Psychologist. The post holder would be involved in the collective leadership of the team, offering consultation, advice and support to the team and partners on complex cases.
The role also involves offering assessment, formulation and intervention for those on secondary care caseload. We will train you in a Governed Psychological Therapy (e.g. EMDR/DBT) and offer extensive supervision and support with the role overall. We welcome applicants from those wanting to gain experience in a prison/forensic setting.

The Mental Health Team are committed to delivering high quality care. The model of service delivery aims to provide timely, evidence-based and accessible mental health assessment and treatment to meet the needs of patients in prison. The teams includes a Mental Health Team Manager, Registered Nurses, Psychological Wellbeing Therapists, a Counsellor, a Higher Assistant Psychologist (HAP) as well as regular sessional input from a Psychiatrist.
