Job summary

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Integrated Support Unit (ISU) within HMP Durham.

The post holder will need to be flexible in their approach to managing the day to day operational aspects of the unit and staff. You will lead the team of multi-disciplinary professionals by example, provide strong clinical leadership and be visible and accessible to patients who reside on the 11 bedded unit.

The successful candidate will work within a collaborative leadership approach with senior clinical staff including an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Consultant, Senior AHPs as well as within a peer group of Team Managers across the other NE Prisons. The successful candidate will also work alongside other healthcare providers, HMPPS and both internal and external Health and Justiceserviceswithin the North East displaying excellent skills in communication, engagement and collaborative working.

Main duties of the job

Operational management of an Integrated Mental Health Team, including accountability for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of patients are maintained and delivered at all times in accordance with evidence based practice by all members of the Prison Mental health Team.

The successful candidate should be a competent and confident clinical practitioner with extensive experience working in Mental Health Services.

  • Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work.
