Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Counsellor with experience of clinical supervision to be part of the Persistent Physical Symptoms Team.
We are a small friendly team working with individuals who have complex needs and unexplained physical symptoms. This is a creative and innovative role working with both physical and psychiatric presentations.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of clients with Complex Mental Health issues and have knowledge of how the body, and especially the autonomic nervous system, can be utilised to benefit mood and emotional regulation. Experience in working with trauma and bereavement is also desirable.
The candidate would also need excellent communication skills; good organisational skills; be self-motivated and have a flexible approach for working with clients in this group.
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and motivated individual with a passion for providing high level mental health care and support to patients. You will be joining a committed and supportive group of clinicians who really do put patients at the center of what they do. You will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners, including Nurses, psychological therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists, Physiotherapists and Support Workers.
The post is for 15 hours a week and is a permanent position.
Main duties of the job
The job role is to provide a high-quality counselling serviceto adults with a wide range of presenting problems and significant level of distress. To work on a daily basis in face to face individual and/or group therapy settings with service users presenting with complex and distressing psychological and physical problems.
Previous experience of working in a health/social care setting is essential alongside experience of supporting patients with physical and mental health problems. The ability to travel independently is essential.

- Further post-registration training in a minimum of 2 areas of specialist practice relevant to the post e.g. CBT, EMDR, Couples Counselling or other NICE approved therapies.

- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
