Our Critical Care Therapy team works in innovative and exciting ways to improve quality of life for people during and after critical illness. This post offers the opportunity to work within the acute setting working as part of a Multi Disciplinary Team.
This is an ideal opportunity for a registered Physiotherapist, who has an interest in working within Respiratory in a critical care setting, who is proactive, self-motivated and keen to be at the forefront of delivering high quality care, to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Band 7 Specialist Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapists, Specialised therapy Assistants and the wider MDT in providing support and care for patients with physiotherapy needs in the Critical Care setting setting. Recent training/experience qualification in relevant respiratory care is required for this post.
The post holders will need to be able to work flexibly, including weekend working.

Main duties of the job
This post will involve assessing and treating patients who have complex presentations or multiple pathologies, using advanced assessment techniques and adapting the patients care plan/treatment programme according to patients needs.
A sound knowledge base, understanding and previous experience in physiotherapy in a critical care and surgical setting is required.
The post holder will need to have an understanding of local and national guidance regarding respiratory care and Critical Care e.g NICE guidance . Striving to ensure standards are met.
It is essential the post holder is able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
The post holders will need to be able to work flexibly, including weekend working.

The post holder will be part of the North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust Respiratory Physiotherapy Service providing high quality care to patients in the Hospital or in the community
The post holder will work as part of an integrated team to deliver advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have acute, complex and/or chronic conditions.
The post holder will plan, deliver and evaluate physiotherapy intervention in partnership with health and social care colleagues and together deliver and evaluate all elements of care delivery
The post holder will work under the supervision and mentorship of a Band 7 Respiratory Physiotherapist who will be primarily responsible for day to day operational issues and will also take the lead clinical role in respect of service and staff development
The post holder will be required to deputise for the Band 7 Lead and will be responsible for the management of Band 5 Physiotherapists / Occupational Therapists / therapy assistants / apprentices and students.
It will be expected that the post holder will take a lead in developing excellence in the provision of Evidence Based Therapies / Interventions to people requiring Physiotherapy Intervention. This will include the development of Rehabilitation after Critical Illness services
The post holder will be expected to maintain a flexible approach to their work and will be expected to explore new ways of working in line with the ambition of the NHS long term plan.
To be an active member of the evening and weekend respiratory physiotherapy on-call service if competent and required to do so.
To participate in seven day and / or extended hours working.
